L&G successfully reacquired two usernames for its client, global healthcare and pharmaceutical company Sanofi. Third parties registered usernames incorporating Sanofi’s famous house mark on YouTube and Twitter. Having been unable to secure the release of the usernames through those companies’ respective online dispute mechanisms, Sanofi turned to L&G for assistance. After some consultation, we contacted those respective companies’ trademark departments the old-fashioned way- by fax- to express our client’s concerns. Within one month, the usernames were safely back in Sanofi’s control.
